NO OFFERS FOR DEMPSEY (YET)

Fulham manager Martin Jol has said that the club has not received any offers for star striker Clint Dempsey. The USA international is expected to depart Fulham at the end of the season. He has helped Fulham make it into the top half of the table after scoring more than 20 goals this season alone. He has only one year left on his current contract and has been linked with a number of clubs across Europe. However, Martin Jol said that the club are yet to receive a concrete bid for the player. It is thought that Clint Dempsey has already agreed a move to Italian club Roma.

The 29-year-old has been surprising packages of the season. Hence, Fulham are extremely keen on signing him on a new contract according to Martin Jol, but the player is yet to agree on the deal offered to him right now. Dempsey has scored 16 goals in the Premier league alone and a number of British clubs are also queuing up to sign him. Arsenal and Tottenham have been regarded as the front-runners for his signature when it comes to the British clubs, although the player is keen on moving to a different country.

“Of course it’s nice if they are positive about him. I’m very positive about a few Liverpool players because I like them a lot but it doesn’t mean we can afford to buy them. If a manager does that, it’s different because it’s a tap-up, but if it’s an owner, he probably doesn’t know about the rules and agreements. I’m not bothered about it,” Martin Jol said after the Liverpool victory. Fulham managed a historic win at Anfield after securing a 1-0 win. Clint Dempsey was not on the scoresheet, but Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel’s own goal was enough to seal the victory.
