SPAIN FALL BY THE WAYSIDE

One of the latest 2016 Euro’s qualifying matches that the Slovakia national football team played was against Spain as both national squads faced off in a match with the top spot of Group C in jeopardy. Surprisingly enough, it was Spain the team that fell apart and lost the match with a final scoreboard of 2-1.

Juraj Kucka scored the opening goal of the match which gave Slovakia the early lead at the 17th minute but Paco Alcacer equalized the match at the 82nd minute but the hosts managed to restore their lead and a late goal from Miroslav Stoch was enough for Slovakia to claim the unforeseen victory for his team.

The head coach of Slovakia, Jan Kozak could not contain his excitement concerning Slovakia’s victory over Spain. Spain is considered to be one of the best national teams in the world with a star studded squad which has well known and worldwide recognized players such as: Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas, David Silva, Juan Mata and many others.

Even with all of those big name players in the Spanish squad, Spain endured a disastrous 2014 World Cup campaign and they still seem to be struggling after losing against Slovakia.

“I am thrilled. We put in a fantastic performance in front of a full stadium. I hope we pleased our fans. This win is very precious. Spain has not lost a qualifier in eight years. Our players put in a very brave performance. We fought very hard and gave our best, especially at the back’’

“All the boys made a fantastic effort and played until the final whistle. People will say Spain underestimated us, but that is not true. We made Spain put maximum effort into the game’’ Slovakia’s Jan Kozak said.

Slovakia are now currently lying at the top of Group C with 9 points meanwhile Spain are following closely behind with 6 points collected so far.

Falcao Linked With Real Madrid

Now that Angel Di Maria’s transfer to Manchester United has been completed, rumors have started pouring down involving Radamel Falcao with a move to Real Madrid as the Spanish side could use that cash injection to sign Falcao from As.Monaco.

Ac.Milan is another club that is being linked with Falcao as the Italian club sold Mario Balotelli to Liverpool and now they are looking around in the transfer market for possible replacements.

Arsene Wenger is also keen on signing an experienced attacker with a player that can perform alongside Olivier Giroud and Radamel Falcao is a top target for Arsenal. The Frenchman Olivier Giroud will be unavailable to play for around 3 months after fracturing his foot and now Wenger is scouting for players that can fill in the gap of Giroud.

As you can see, there are a number of clubs which are interested in signing the Colombian forward of As.Monaco but Real Madrid has an edge as they have the biggest budget available to spend and this could be the edge that the club needs to sign the highly rated attacker.

Radamel Falcao made a name for himself a few years ago when he performed as a player of Athletic Madrid where he managed to score 52 goals in 2 seasons for the Spanish club but ever since signing with As.Monaco, the Colombian has struggled trying to replicate his form. He has been troubled with a series of injuries but he is still far from being the same player he was some years ago.

If he continues struggling to score goals and display performances like he did back with Athletic Madrid, then As.Monaco could be willing to accept an offer for him and taking into consideration that Real Madrid are not afraid to splash out huge sums of money for their targets it could very well mean that Falcao might join Real Madrid maybe not in this season but in the near future.

GARCIA IMPRESSES

Rudi Garcia was appointed as the manager of As.Roma in June of 2013 and even though some fans had doubt if the Frenchman was the correct choice, it has been nothing but an impressive season for the former Lille coach.

As.Roma has already secured a 2nd spot finish in Serie A which will allow them to fight against Europe’s best in the Champions League for the upcoming campaign. Since Gardia only signed a 2 year contract with As.Roma and the current season is nearing its end, Garcia stated that he will speak to the executives of the club concerning his future. Sherwood threatened by Louis Van Gaal

Tim Sherwood, the Tottenham Hotspur manager is feeling worried at the moment that the chairperson, Daniel Levy might have decided to substitute him by the end of this season by a fresh face. However Sherwood thinks that it would be much interesting to take up the job of a technical director, replacing Franco Baldini at the White Hart Lane.

Daniel Levy did not witness the second half of the match between the Spurs and their rivals from London, wherein they got majorly capitulated by the latter at Stamford Bridge, since he had to attend a family event. Regardless of what the results were, it is expected that Levy has made up his mind regarding appointing Louis van Gaal, the Holland manager by summer, which means, Sherwood has to move out of his position as a manager to the Spurs. Off the topic, a huge question mark has also been raised pertaining to the future of Baldini, the technical director post Ian Broomfield’s return as a scout to the Spurs.

Sherwood has strongly insisted that he definitely would not function as a number two under Louis van Gaal, but he is also interested in taking up Baldini’s post, if and when the Italian leaves. When inquired about whether or not he thinks that Levy will replace him with a new manager, he replied that the silence right now is plain deafening, and it will completely depend on Daniel, regarding what is going to happen. He added that the final decision whether he is going to stay or not will be taken by the club. No one really cares more at the moment than him, he really wants the team to perform its best and it hurts him when they fail to do so.

NEW CONTRACT

Former Barcelona superstar Ronaldinho has agreed to a new contract at Atletico Mineiro, thus bringing to an end all the speculation linking him with a return to European football with Besiktas. The Turkish outfit have been linked with a move for the player, who slowly appears to be finding his best form in recent years. Even though he may never play at the level he was seen during the 2006 World Cup, he still remains as one of the finest players in the Brazilian league. Hence, Atletico Mineiro were under a lot of pressure to sign him on a new contract.

Besiktas were interested in taking him back to Europe, as he would also like the same in order to be selected for the Brazilian squad. Ronaldinho has not featured for the national team for a long time and he is stuck on 97 caps. It is understood that he wants to play for the national team at the 2014 World Cup, which will be hosted in Brazil. As a result, he was even convinced that a move to European outfits will put him back in the eyes of Scolari, but it now appears that Atletico Mineiro will keep him for much longer.

Club president Alexandre Kalil confirmed the news on Twitter, but the length of the contract has not been revealed yet. Ronaldinho almost helped the team secure major titles this season. The new season is set to start in a week. Cruzeiro managed to win the title last season after taking 76 points compared to the 65 points of Gremio. Atletico Mineiro could only manage a third-place finish in the table, but they have qualified for the Copa Libertadores as a result of it.

Atletico Mineiro have been able to challenge for title due to the presence of Ronaldinho.
